Mask "ambassadors" to cost $80K for balance of year

The police department is coordinating with Pilgrim Security on the scheduling and uniforms for the 2021 mask "ambassadors" which are slated to begin patrols this weekend of the downtown $50 fine non-mask wearing zone. Yesterday, Karen Keane, the Director of Public Health said the "ambassadors" would not patrol the skatepark due to their inability to compel compliance in the face of “outright refusal” at the skatepark.

The Town has never issued a fine for non-mask wearing.

According to the Town Manager's report the cost of the "ambassadors" would be approximately $80,000 for the balance of the year, the Town plans to cover the cost with grant money from FEMA or the CARES Act.
