Mask "ambassadors" to return despite inability to compel compliance

Mask "ambassadors" will be returning to downtown this weekend and seven days a week, to enforce the Town's $50 no-mask fine order, even though the Town has never issued a fine for non-masking wearing. Ambassadors will not be returning to the skatepark, according to the the Director of Public Health Karen Keane due the ineffectiveness of enforcing the order at the skatepark, which "continues to be an issue" with "outright refusal" to wear a mask.

Despite questionable authority to detain a non-masking wearing member of public short of waiting for the police, Keane said the Town "didn't push the fine" in 2020, "this summer might be the summer to push the fine".

Keane added, "We are very excited to have them back through summer and September."
