School Department to launch optional virus testing in later this school year
Superintendent Campbell told the Plymouth Covid Forum Wednesday that the school department would be rolling out an optional covid 19 pcr test in the next few weeks for staff and students. The test would be the less invasive saliva method and results would be available in a 24-36 hour window.
Dr. Campbell also indicated that any return to full time in school would require a modification of the state's limitation on school bus capacity, currently capped at 23 students per large school bus. Plymouth operates a large school bus system, with 60-68 buses on a three tiered system. The bus contractor cannot supply the number of buses or drivers required to transport the expected number students with capacity capped at 23.
