Town cracks down on large events
On the cusp of wedding season the Board of Health voted today to take a tougher stand on attendance at events due to the fact that Plymouth is now in the "red zone". As of this past Monday the state relaxed event capacity limits to 100 inside and 150 outside, but as of next Monday March 29th, the Plymouth limits will be 60 inside and 100 outside. Private party limits remain at 10 indoors and 25 outdoors.
The recent spike in virus cases is due in part to an outbreak at a singular group living facility. The Director of Public Health Karen Keane told the Board that up to 50 cases have been tracked to the High Point Treatment Center in Manomet, with the potential of more cases as testing continues.
"If we can hang on another 2-4 weeks, maybe a little bit longer...even though some people we are already done with" the virus, said Board Chair Barry Potvin.
